NWUA Response to the Economic Downturn
NWUA has been successful in securing funding from HEFCE to deliver a linked set of actions to support the engagement of the Higher Education sector with the regional response to the economic downturn. Shared Interest: Collaboration between museums, visual arts
organisations and universities in England’s North West.
Shared Interest is the result of a collaborative project between North
West Universities Association, Renaissance North West and Arts Council
England, North West. The project aims to encourage greater
collaboration between museums, visual arts organisations and
universities in the region. The report demonstrates how these sectors
can achieve more by working together. It is based on research
commissioned from Abigail Gilmore and Jane Dawson. The research set out
to identify compelling regional examples of collaboration and the key
features of successful partnerships.

Digital Pathways Event - Compass Room, The Lowry, Salford, 01/02/2010
NWUA working in partnership with the national Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network (DCKTN) and the regional hub, InfoLab21 at Lancaster University organised a high profile regional event ‘Digital Pathways’. This event aimed to promote collaborative R&D opportunities in the digital industries with a focus on broadcasting, telecoms, digital networks and infrastructure. It was held at the Compass Room, The Lowry, Salford Quays on 1st February 2010, and attracted an audience of 100+ technology companies and SMEs. Longitudinal Impact Study of the NW HLSP - Phase One Evaluation Report
In April 2009 NWUA appointed the KSA Partnership to undertake a longitudinal impact study on the NW Higher Level Skills Partnership. The study looks at the impact of the NW HLSP on providers, partners, employers and employees (learners) and will be ongoing until the end of the project in March 2011. Phase one is now complete and focuses on the impact on HEIs / FECs and partners.

Enhancing Higher Level Sport Volunteering & Coaching Skills
This project, funded by
HEFCE,
aims to contribute to the regional legacy of the London 2012 Games by
facilitating the development and delivery of higher level sport volunteering
and coaching skills to meet the needs of North West sport community partners.
