Teaching and Learning SPN

Teaching and Learning SPN

This SPN focuses on regional and national policy developments to ensure that all Higher Education (HE) students benefit from a high-quality learning experience that fully meets their needs and the needs of society. The group aims to consider relevant L&T strategy and policy initiatives and to facilitate collective engagement between NW HEIs in relation to learning and teaching within a regional context, improvement of the quality of learning and teaching in the North West HEIs,and promoting the distinctive and essential role of learning and teaching in HE in the economic and social regeneration of the region. It also provides opportunity to bring the HE sector together to speak with one united voice on learning and teaching issues, for consultation, liaison, lobbying and promotional purposes.

The group's remit also includes higher level skills policy in relation to to both employers and learners, however wider business-university interaction is also part of the remit of the Research and Enterprise SPN.

The remit of the SPN also considers relevant WP strategy and policy initiatives, to advise the NWUA Board and Management Team on strategic issues in relation to WP, and to facilitate collective engagement between NW HEIs in relation to the WP agenda. It also aims to maximise the influence of the HE sector in all matters relating to WP in the NW, ensuring HEIs have their full share of opportunities and exemplars of good practice are disseminated widely. Widening access and improving participation in higher education are a crucial part of HEI's' missions and the main aim is to promote and provide opportunities of successful participation in higher education to all those that can benefit from it.
