Active Community Fund Network
The NWUA HE Active Community Fund (HEACF) Network is comprised of contacts
from the fourteen higher education institutions (HEIs) in the North West with
a remit that includes the community engagement and volunteering agendas.
The network meets approximately 3 times a year and is chaired by Dr Celia Brigg,
Assistant Director (Skills), NWUA. The network allows members to share best practice concerning
volunteering activity among both students and staff within their HEIs and also discusses
areas for potential collaboration.
Recent meetings have focused on future funding for this area of activity both in
terms of funding allocations from the HEFCE and also alternative local funding sources.
The network are also working on ways to raise awareness of their activities both within
NW HEIs and with wider regional partners.
