Lead Academic Network

The Lead Academic Network is the mechanism employed by NWUA to facilitate regional higher education (HE) engagement at a strategic level across the six regional cluster priorities as identified in the Regional Economic Strategy 2006, and the North West’s Sector Skills & Productivity Alliances (SSPA) priority sectors. This mechanism includes a Lead Academic and an electronic network of academics for each cluster/sector, supported by a NWUA Lead Officer.

The Lead Academic Network has two key objectives:

  • To provide a cluster/sector-specific communication mechanism to academics
  • To provide a framework to enable HE response and engagement with major cluster/sector initiatives and developments

NWUA Officers work proactively with Lead Academics, members of the electronic network, and other regional partners across a broad range of activities including the coordination of expert input into regional strategies and initiatives, development of cluster/sector related resources, and collation and dissemination of cluster specific information.
