European Social Fund (ESF) - Objective 3 (2000-2006) Programme
North West Universities Association as the representative body for the sector
in the North West undertook the regional Sector Co-ordinator role for the
Objective 3 ESF Programme (2000-2006) and was heavily engaged in the programme.
The regional need and importance of such higher level skills activity was also
reflected in the level of engagement and response by the NW Higher Education
Institutions through both the NW Regional and National frameworks, the later
operated through the HE ESF Unit.
Whilst the Objective 3 (2000-2006) programme was operationally completed as at
31st December 2008, it is important that the successes and lessons learnt
continue to be disseminated to stakeholders as part of the programmes legacy
operation. In discussion with Government Office for the North West, NWUA has
undertaken two further activities:
The development of a web-based database to record the ESF research projects
undertaken
Production of a brochure containing case studies highlighting the broad range
of activities undertaken through the programme.
