The creation and evolution of NWUA has enabled the Higher Education
Institutions of the North West to co-operate in working closely with industry
and regional agencies, including Government Office North West (GO-NW), North
West Regional Assembly (NWRA), the North West Constitutional Convention,
Regional Chambers of Commerce, the Regional CBI, the NW Business Leadership
Team and the North West Development Agency (NWDA).
NWUA and its member institutions are working closely with NWDA to deliver the
objectives of the Regional Strategy.

The Office of the Independent Adjudicator
The Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education ("OIA") opened
for business on 29 March 2004.
They provide an independent scheme for the review of student complaints and
appeals. This new service is free to students.
The OIA is not a regulator. They handle individual complaints against higher
education institutions. They may also publish recommendations about how they
deal with complaints and what constitutes good practice. To get more
